There's an artist on itch io named Penusmbic who does pixel art in a 8/16 bit type style. I think he has tutorials, etc on his twitter. You might want to look at his stuff because his work is amazing. Re: your viruses, it might be helpful to add attack, idle, move, damage and death animations so that people can use as enemies in a video game.
Funny thing is I actually recently followed him. I'm planning to make a different series currently with hit, attack, death, run, and idle animations so that people can completely use it. I think you might like it. I'll release it when I think it's ready. :)
